Dialysis

Dialysis is based on the transport of ions through charged, dense membranes. The positive cation can penetrate the negative membrane but is repelled by the positive membrane. The same is true for the negative anion which can only penetrate the positive membrane but not the negative membrane.

A distinction can be made between electrodialysis and diffusion dialysis. The driving force in electrodialysis is the electric potential which is caused by an externally applied electric field. In diffusion dialysis, the concentration gradient is the driving force of the process.

Our typical applications for dialysis are:

  • Processing of acids
  • Recovery of raw materials
  • Preparation of process solutions

Separate the best from the rest - Individual process combinations for highest efficiency

Dialysis is a versatile procedure that can often be used as a supplement to other procedures. Dialysis processes have proven themselves in environmental technology, especially in acid treatment and the recovery of raw materials. With dialysis as part of our portfolio, we are able to get the most out of your process and avoid waste water by an intelligent process control (Minimum Liquid Discharge / MLD ; Zero Liquid Discharge / ZLD).

The right support in every stage of the project

We have gained experience with a variety of different process fluids. We would be pleased to assist you as a plant engineering company in the selection of the suitable membrane and the optimal process control! For special applications, we are also happy to offer you the possibility of process screening in our laboratory with subsequent industrial piloting as part of our 4 steps 2 separation!
